In 2006, the NSEDC Board of Directors directed staff to establish and coordinate a Consolidated Bulk Fuel Program. The intent behind the Bulk Fuel Program is that by consolidating fuel orders of program participants from all fifteen NSEDC member communities and working together with a single fuel order coordinator, NSEDC is better able to negotiate the best possible prices for fuel deliveries.
NSEDC acts as an agent on behalf of program participants to coordinate the order, issue a Request for Proposals (RFP) to fuel suppliers, evaluate the proposals and award a contract, while acting as a single point of contact for the fuel supplier and program participants. No interest or fees are charged to participants for administration of the program. To participate in the program, an entity must have bulk fuel storage with a U.S. Coast Guard approved header and must be a municipal or tribal government, native corporation or local fuel vendor.
