Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) is sponsoring Introduction to Aluminum Welding training through Northern Industrial Training (NIT) for NSEDC member community residents. NSEDC will cover all costs, including fees and supplies, as well as transportation, lodging and food for accepted applicants on a limited basis.

Class Location:
Northern Industrial Training (NIT) in Palmer, AK
Program Details:
NSEDC member community residents who are chosen for the class will be flown to Palmer to complete a six-day, Introduction to Aluminum Welding course at NIT. Those selected for the training will have travel provided to and from their home community to Palmer. Lodging and meals will be provided throughout the training and travel. NIT Welding training requirements: 18 years of age, valid AK Driver’s License or State-issued ID, Social Security Card, Pre-Participation physical and DOT Equivalent Drug Test within 10 days prior to class.
Students will have the opportunity to learn GMAW and plasma cutting skills, including the following:
- The mechanical means of cutting aluminum
- Base metal preparation
- Joint fit-up
- Beads and fillet welds
- Groove welds
Students will have the chance to receive an NIT certification for 48 hours of Aluminum Welding by the end of the course. Please complete and submit the following application by March 14th.
