NSEDC Board approves $484,128 in Outside Entity Funding (OEF) projects

April 2, 2021 By NSEDC

OEF program supports regional and community programs, projects and activities

UNALAKLEET—The Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) Board of Directors voted to distribute $484,128 through the Outside Entity Funding (OEF) program to Norton Sound member communities and regional organizations at a special meeting held March 18, 2021. Since 2003, NSEDC has annually set aside money to contribute to regional efforts to fund programs, projects and activities benefiting member communities.

Community and regional organizations directly submit requests for funding through the NSEDC OEF program. Each year NSEDC member communities are each allotted $60,000 which is available to the municipal governments; federally recognized tribal governments; non-profit organizations; or local, state, and federal agencies. Any funds not utilized carry over to the following year. Additionally, $100,000 is available each year for region-wide programs and activities.

“These organizations are vital to healthy and prosperous communities,” NSEDC Board Chair Frank Katchatag said. “We’re very proud to support the work and mission of these organizations that provide valuable benefits to the places we call home.”
