Grant funding will go to a variety of community and regional projects that will deliver a large beneficial impact
NOME – The Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation (NSEDC) Board of Directors has approved a myriad of Outside Entity Funding (OEF) grants to support Norton Sound communities across the region.
The Board approved two regional proposals, totaling $100,000, and eleven community proposals, totaling $447,513, from the OEF program. For nearly three decades, NSEDC has annually set aside money to contribute to regional efforts that fund programs, projects, and activities benefiting member communities. Each year, member communities are allotted $60,000 through the OEF program, which is available to municipal governments; federally recognized tribal governments; non-profit organizations; or local, state, and federal agencies. A committee in each community reviews their community’s grant applications and makes funding recommendations to the full NSEDC Board. Any community funds that are not utilized in the current year carry over to the following year. Additionally, $100,000 is available each year for regional programs and activities.
OEF grants are applied to a wide range of projects across the Norton Sound region. From supporting our regional schools and students to programs that are working to ensure that every member in one community has a bed to sleep in, NSEDC’s funding helps our residents succeed and prosper.
